Collecting in bags
Where to get hold of your plastic bags ?
Only the bags branded « Bruxelles-Propreté » can be used. You can purchase them :
- In supermarkets
- In most DIY shops and convenience stores
As a shop owner, you may want to add the official rolls of bags in your store. In this case, please contact one of the approved companies on this page.
Please abide by the following rules :
FOR THE COLLECTIONS
- Your bag must be 15 kg or lighter
- Sharp waste (ex: broken glass) must be well wrapped to avoid any injury to yourself or our team members.
- Please respect the days to put out your bags
- The bags must be placed in front of the private property (not at the foot of trees, nor at the foot of public litter bins, nor in height).
- Strict use of "Bruxelles-Propreté” compliant bags.
- The bags must be closed properly.
- Bags must be placed by flow/colour.
Use of a rigid bin:
To use a rigid bin correctly, the following rules must be followed:
- Rigid bins are authorised for white and blue bags.
- They must not exceed 80 litres.
- Bags of different colours must not be mixed in the same bin.
- You will therefore need one bin for white bags and one for blue bags. Otherwise, the bags may be stacked on top of each other and not seen by our agents.
- Do not put a lid on the bin.
- Rigid bins must be placed on your pavement and must be visible and accessible.
- They must be returned as soon as possible after the truck has passed.
- For food waste, the orange container remains the only one accepted.

Bruxelles-Propreté recommends using a rigid bin for household waste (white bag), PMC (blue bag) and food waste (orange bag).
In some municipalities, these are mandatory:
- Watermael-Boitsfort: rigid bin mandatory for household and food waste
- Woluwe-Saint-Lambert: rigid bin mandatory for household and food waste
- Woluwe-Saint-Pierre: rigid bin mandatory for household waste
Using a rigid bin protects your bags from animals such as foxes, rats and birds, and prevents waste from spilling onto the pavement. This makes it easier for collection teams to collect your waste and helps keep your neighbourhood clean.
Good to know:
- Some of the waste in good condition can be taken directly to social economy companies.
- Electrical and electronic waste in poor condition can be brought back to a store when buying a similar type of device.
- Please bring back you old medicines to your chemist.
